Commemorating International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2023

On December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed with a focus on the theme "United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities."

Kilimanjaro Blind Trust Africa (KBTA) marked this occasion by actively engaging in support to ACE MOBILITY, a tech start-up committed to providing inclusive transport services through a special cab hailing service app available on play store and specialized vehicles for those with different disabilities. KBTA's contribution involved providing the unique, people centered Live Lab support, bringing together user testing and feedback.

This unique approach aimed to directly experience and comprehend the barriers faced by persons with disabilities. Through this live lab event attended by 60 individuals, mothers and care givers of those with multiple disabilities, KBTA highlighted the critical need for affordable, tailor-made solutions that enable the full inclusion of persons with disabilities across various spheres of life.

The partnership between KBTA and ACE MOBILITY underscored the significance of technological innovation in addressing the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities within urban environments. The collaboration not only commemorated the International Day for Persons with Disabilities but also promoted the vital role of technology in developing practical and inclusive solutions for marginalized communities.
